Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-23 · Applies to incenseherbs.com and data.incenseherbs.com
This site sets no tracking cookies. We run no analytics, no advertising, and no behavioural-tracking scripts, so there is no cookie banner and nothing to consent to. The only third-party resource your browser fetches — webfonts from Google Fonts — does not involve a cookie that we set on your device. This page says exactly what that means, in plain terms.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device, read back on later visits. Cookies are used for several distinct purposes — keeping you logged in, remembering a preference, measuring traffic, or serving advertising — and different cookies carry different privacy implications. This page describes which of those purposes apply to incenseherbs.com and data.incenseherbs.com, which is: essentially none of them.
It helps to distinguish first-party cookies (set by the site you are visiting) from third-party cookies (set by another domain whose content the page loads). This site sets neither kind. The only thing loaded from another domain is a font file, described in section 3.
2. Our position, stated plainly
These are static pages. We do not set first-party cookies for any purpose, and we do not load third-party tracking, analytics, or advertising scripts of any kind. Concretely:
- No analytics cookies. We run no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, no Matomo, no Hotjar, no Meta/Facebook Pixel, and no similar tool.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies. We run no ad network and no behavioural-advertising identifier.
- No functional cookies. There are no accounts, no logins, no shopping cart, and no preference to persist — so there is nothing a functional cookie would be needed for.
- No social-media widgets. We embed no like buttons, comment boxes, or embedded feeds that would drop third-party cookies.
Because there are no cookies to manage, there is no cookie banner and no cookie settings panel on this site — there is nothing for such a control to control.
3. The one third-party request: webfonts
The site loads its typefaces (Inter, Source Serif 4, and Noto Serif SC) from Google Fonts,
served from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. When your
browser fetches these files, it sends a request to Google's servers in the same way it would for
any image or script hosted elsewhere; that request may carry your IP address and basic browser
metadata, as described in Google's privacy policy.
This font request is not a cookie we set, and it is not used by us to track, identify, or profile you. Google's own handling of that font request — including any cookie or server-side log it keeps — is governed by Google's privacy policy, not this one. We do not read, store, or combine any data from that request with anything else.
4. Hosting and access logs
The site is served through Cloudflare's network. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard technical access logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — to serve pages, maintain security, and prevent abuse. These are server-side logs, not cookies placed on your device. They are not used to build profiles of visitors and are not combined with any inquiry you send us. This is described further in the privacy policy, section 2 and section 5.
5. What about "Do Not Track"?
Your browser may offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because this site runs no tracking and sets no cookies, those signals have no effect here — there is nothing to turn off. The site honours your privacy by design, not by toggling a setting: you can read the entire site without accepting any cookie or providing any personal information.
6. Managing cookies in your browser
If you want to control cookies generally — on this site or any other — you can do so from your browser settings. Every major browser lets you block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or clear cookies on exit. Because this site sets none, blocking cookies will not change how it works for you; it will only affect other sites that do use them. You can also use your browser's private or incognito mode, which clears cookies when you close the window.
If you prefer to load the site without the webfont request described in section 3, most browsers allow you to block third-party requests to specific domains — but the site is designed to degrade gracefully to system fonts if the webfonts cannot be loaded, so nothing breaks.
For reference, the relevant settings page in each major browser is: Chrome (Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data), Firefox (Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data), Safari (Preferences → Privacy), and Edge (Settings → Cookies and site permissions). These paths change as browsers update; if a path has moved, search the browser's own help for "cookies".
7. Other technologies
We use no local storage, no web beacons, no fingerprinting, and no similar tracking technology on this site. The structured datasets on data.incenseherbs.com are plain JSON files, delivered without tracking. "Machine-readable markdown" variants of our pages are served as plain text files with an explicit content type — again, without tracking. There is no device fingerprinting, no canvas or font-fingerprinting script, and no pixel tag on any page.
8. Why this matters in practice
A cookie policy usually exists to tell you what a site collects about you. Ours exists to tell you that there is little to collect, and to be precise about the one exception — the webfont request — so that nothing is hidden by a vague claim like "we value your privacy." Concretely:
- You can read the whole site without accepting anything.
- No profile of you is built from your browsing on this site.
- No third party is served your behaviour across sites because of anything on this page.
- If you contact us, the only personal information we receive is what you choose to send, as described in the privacy policy.
If the absence of tracking is surprising, it is worth remembering that a static knowledge site does not need a profile of its readers to function: the content is the same whether or not we know who is reading it.
9. Legal framework
This policy is written to be readable everywhere, but the practical situation is simple under the major regimes. Under the EU/UK ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, cookies that are not strictly necessary require consent — and because we set no cookies at all, there is nothing requiring consent. Under the CCPA/CPRA, there is likewise no "sale or share" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, because we run no such technology. The site's general data handling is described in the privacy policy, which also explains your rights.
10. If this changes
If we ever add a feature that requires cookies — for example, an account system, a live inquiry form with persistent state, or analytics — we will update this policy first, state which cookies are set and why, and provide a way to manage them before they are used. The version you are reading describes the site as it operates today, and its "last updated" date is 2026-10-23.
Frequently asked questions
Is this policy the same as the privacy policy?
No, they are two parts of one set. This cookie policy covers cookies and similar tracking technologies specifically; the privacy policy covers everything we collect — including the inquiries you choose to send us — and your rights. The two are cross-linked and dated together.
Why is there no cookie banner on this site?
Because there are no cookies to consent to. A banner exists to ask permission for cookies a site wants to set; since we set none — no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind — there is nothing to ask permission for.
Does loading Google Fonts set a cookie on my device?
Not one that we set. Fetching a font file is a request your browser makes to Google's servers; Google's own handling of that request is governed by Google's privacy policy. This site does not read, store, or combine anything from that request.
Do you track me through my IP address instead?
No. The hosting provider keeps standard server access logs for security and abuse prevention, but these are not used to build a profile of you and are not combined with any inquiry you send. See the privacy policy, section 2.
If I block cookies, will the site still work?
Yes. The site works identically with cookies blocked, because it never relied on them in the first place.
